Happy Monday! Today, Diana gives us her rundown of the foods at Trader Joe’s she has been buying and enjoying - and Dr. Weil tells us one of his favorite products. This is always a popular post, so enjoy! We are also sharing the best seasonal foods to look for in October, along with their anti-inflammatory benefits, tips for choosing and using them, and delicious soup recipes to try.

And coming up this week, Diana talks about TBD, we take a look at magnesium and Dr, Weil chimes in on his thoughts about taking it with calcium, and we do a deep dive on pistachios, which are surprisingly beneficial for women’s health. Enjoy!

Trader Joe’s Picks: Fall Edition

Organic Super Bread. We have been loving this seasonal bread. It’s made with pumpkin, flax, and sunflower seeds and also has dried apples, carrots, and sesame seeds. It also has a whopping 5 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein per 2 slices (they are thin and fairly small). That’s pretty fantastic for bread! It makes for a great PB&J and even my two-year-old loves it.

Soy Milk. Most plant-based milks contain gums, stabilizers, and other additives. And while I do still buy them, I don’t love all those extra ingredients. Recently, there have been more plant-based milks that only contain nuts, water, and salt (like Califia’s 3-ingredient line), but they tend to be quite pricey. So I was thrilled to find that Trader Joe’s has shelf-stable soy milk made only with soybeans and water! Plus, it’s organic. I always opt for unsweetened.

Organic Valencia Peanut Butter. Most peanut butters contain unnecessary ingredients like oils, emulsifiers, or sweeteners. And if they don’t, they tend to be outrageously expensive. This is our go-to peanut butter. It’s organic and only contains peanuts and salt (or no salt, depending on which one you get). They offer creamy and crunchy options, and a jar is $6.99.

10-Minute Farro. Farro has become one of our favorite whole grains. This 10-minute farro makes it so easy to add some extra fiber and nutrients to your salads, grain bowls, or as a side. Keep a few bags in your pantry for ease. We recommend cooking it in vegetable broth for extra flavor. For more insight into this healthy grain, check out our post on farro:

Pitted Salted Manzanilla Olives. If you are trying to limit your salt intake, these probably aren’t for you. However, I love them as a quick snack - especially on a hike!

Mini Pumpkin Ice Cream Cones. This is a seasonal flavor, but I also love their strawberry and chocolate chip options that have year round. I’m a dessert lover and I eat something sweet every night after dinner. What I love about these ice cream cones is how small, but satisfying they are. You don’t need to think about portion sizes, because they’ve done it for you! If you have a sweet tooth, but are trying to cut back on how much sugar you eat, give these a try.

And a Bonus Dr. Weil Recommendation - Egg Salad. I prefer to make my own egg salad, but in a pinch I’ll buy this ready-made option. It has simple ingredients and tastes pretty good. I like to eat it just on a slice of whole grain bread. - Dr. Weil
