How To Make Homemade Popsicles!
Homemade popsicles are super simple - you really just need a liquid base, something to sweeten/flavor it, and a way to freeze it. Read on for the basic formula Diana uses, an easy method, four popsicle flavor ideas and our VIP recipe: Raspberry Lemon Hibiscus Popsicles!
Homemade Popsicles: Basic Formula
These three are the basis of tasty homemade popsicles:
Liquid: You can use juice, milk, yogurt, coconut milk, cashew milk or even just water
Flavor/sweetener: Honey, maple syrup, sugar, or vanilla can all add additional flavor, but are optional
Extras: Fresh fruit chunks, herbs, and chocolate chips can all add texture and taste if you choose!
Easy Homemade Popsicles
To make homemade popsicles, you’ll need some popsicle molds. We like Zoku Mini Popsicle Molds - they are perfect for making multiple, smaller popsicles. If you prefer larger popsicles, try this 12 silicone mold.
Then:
Combine your ingredients in a bowl, and pour your mixture into the mold of your choice.
Insert sticks, reusable straws, or toothpicks (if using an ice cube tray, cover with foil to help the sticks stay upright).
Freeze for 4-6 hours or until solid.
Run the mold under warm water for a few seconds to release.
Homemade Popsicle Recipe Ideas
Try these combinations for a flavorful, refreshing treat this summer! Be sure to blend well for a smooth texture (especially with fruit) and taste before freezing (flavors get slightly muted when frozen). Add more liquid if needed to blend well. When layering, freeze one layer first, then add another for a striped effect.
