Colostrum Supplements

Colostrum, which is the first substance produced by all lactating mammals in the days before milk secretion begins, is a rich, natural source of immune and growth factors. In humans, it plays a critical early role in shaping the infant immune system. Bovine colostrum, collected from cows within the first day after giving birth, has gained popularity as a supplement, especially for immune and gastrointestinal support.
Although I’ve been skeptical of the extravagant health claims made for bovine colostrum, ranging from fat burning to flu prevention, my stance has evolved slightly in light of newer research and ongoing use in both human and veterinary medicine.
